General Responsibilities

The Project Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director of Wiijii’idiwag Ikwewag and will be responsible for supervising the project team members, assisting in the development and implementation of work plans, developing and delivering presentations, planning meetings and events, communicating with partners and stakeholders, reporting on progress and performance objectives, resolving problems as they arise, oversee the administration of the project’s records and documents as well as other senior level administrative duties.

The Candidate Should Possess:

  • Relevant, recent and significant experience in project coordination;
  • Experience working with Elders in First Nation communities;
  • Experience working with First Nations/Indigenous people at a community and/or program level;
  • Ability to develop and document work plans, including ongoing adaptation and reporting;
  • Ability to build and maintain respectful and effective relationships with diverse groups, organizations, and individuals to work collaboratively and cooperatively, including good conflict management skills and abilities;
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities effectively, time manage and problem solve;
  • Ability to coordinate, design and facilitate meetings and other gatherings including the development of pre-reading and meeting documentation;
  • Ability to communicative effectively both orally and in writing, including making presentations to a variety of audiences, ensuring material is adapted as required for the audience;
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively utilize Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel;
  • Understanding of the strengths and challenges within Indigenous communities;
  • Ability to adapt to evolving responsibilities and be willing to expand capacity as the job requires;
  • Experience in supervision of staff;
  • Proficiency in Indigenous ways of knowledge and cultural traditions.

The Candidate Must Have:

  • A valid Class 5 MB Driver’s License with access to a reliable vehicle;
  • Willingness to obtain a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check;
  • Flexibility in work schedule including evenings, weekends and possible overnights;
  • Ability to travel
